I have no explanation for it, but I am feeling decidedly not festive this week. Maybe it’s because I’ve already got everything I ever wanted, and have spent huge amounts of money this year, so I’m not as psyched about gift giving and receiving as usual. Unlike Rob, who happily made a list and actuallyContinue reading “Unfestive”

A little bit country
Isis sat on my lap on the ride home from the vet. Take that, paparazzi! She has roundworms! Ick. Good thing I ziplocked up a poop sample to take with me. While we’re on the topic, thus far I’ve spared the Internet of gross puppy poop stories, but I think it’s time. To be fair,Continue reading “A little bit country”
Shingle all the way
How many roof tiles need to blow off my roof before I consider it a problem? Do I wait until leaks actually form? I’ve been finding roof tiles in my yard for several weeks, and we’re supposed to have the worst windstorm of the season tonight. (Says who? From the wind’s point of view, itContinue reading “Shingle all the way”
Howler Monkey
I have the best-behaved puppy in the world. We had people over on Friday and they were so impressed at how she went into her crate by herself and didn’t bark or chew on anyone. She was equally well-mannered when we took her to the in-law equivalents’ party yesterday. You’d never know that, when noContinue reading “Howler Monkey”
First law of motion
Sheesh. I’m feeling a bit unproductive and useless now. Since Sunday’s blizzard, I’ve barely left the house. I was grateful to have more time with the puppy, but when my body stays at rest too long, it tends to stay at rest. I’m supposed to drive to the main office for a 9:30 meeting onContinue reading “First law of motion”
Nose candy
Still too treacherous to drive. Unlike Rob, I am not considered “essential personnel” at my workplace. Isis is making progress. I left her alone while I bathed Stew and she was silent. I praised her and left the room to bathe myself (a task I neglected yesterday under the misguided impression that I might developContinue reading “Nose candy”
Snow Day!
I never go to work. Lucky for Isis, who still cries if I leave the room and she can’t follow. Schools are closed, ergo government offices are closed, ergo I am still in my pajamas. I have done some work from my laptop, but there’s not a lot I can do, especially since I wasContinue reading “Snow Day!”
Unconditional Love
We got a puppy! We adopted her from my brother’s wife’s parents, police dog trainers who bred their family dog, a stoic Slovakia-born German Shepherd, with an exotic looking dam, also from Slovakia. No kidding, our little girl is a Slovakian-American German Shepherd. We named her Isis. Check out those paws. She’s gonna be huge.Continue reading “Unconditional Love”
The floods follow me
Pretty much every river in Western Washington is in flood stage or flood alert. Not counting the one that runs alongside my house. It’s gushing along, but in no danger of breaching the driveway and flooding my house. Splash.
Nail Power
I painted my nails in Chocolate Nut last night. I did this after doing dishes and laundry and Pledge-wiping every exposed inch of furniture in the house. Love Pledge wipes. Love the smell. I appreciate their dust removal capacity as well as the citrusy smell they leave on my fingers. Aside from that, I don’tContinue reading “Nail Power”
