I couldn’t bear to go to my actual medical provider just to have her say, “Huh. You should try icing your neck,” so I made an appointment to have a mole sliced off my back. At least that way I’d have accomplished something. The offending mole on my shoulder was non-threatening, but had a wayContinue reading “Neck and neck”

To have seen what I’ve seen
Oh, woe. Poor little me. Life was so much fun before Disney World. Now, how can it compare? On the plus side, there was no Isis in Orlando. The first couple of days were rough. I kept wondering what she was doing and whether she was worried we weren’t coming back. Then it became clearContinue reading “To have seen what I’ve seen”
Fish are friends, not food
OK. So I’ve been eating salmon. It’s served at all my work functions, and just seemed like the thing to do. My intent was only to eat work-related salmon, but now my acupuncturist tells me that I’m not eating enough protein. Guess that doesn’t come as a great shock, as I consider a baked potatoContinue reading “Fish are friends, not food”
Weight for it…
I lost 1.2 pounds since last week’s weigh-in. Which sort of surprised me, because my scale at home wasn’t showing much of a difference. I’m pleased. I think I’ve been pretty good about following the plan, since Sunday anyway. (Friday and Saturday were potlucks, and there’s no controlling the food there.) I’m still working outContinue reading “Weight for it…”
Wait watchers
So I’ve gained 5 pounds since moving in with Rob. Which isn’t that much, but after about a year of planning to lose a few, and somehow gaining a couple instead, I decided that I needed reinforcements to boost my motivation. Enter Isis and our morning walks and a return to Weight Watchers! I’m justContinue reading “Wait watchers”
What ails me
The acupuncture worked for about 20 minutes. As I lay there with the pins in my hands and feet, my appendages felt warm and liquid and relaxed. The acupuncturist (who talked too much if you ask me) said I’d know when I was done, and that seemed to be the point when I started toContinue reading “What ails me”
Only pins in the neck can cure me
I’m in day 4 of excruciating neck pain. Have discovered why I never see professional photogs with their cameras around their necks. I do it so I won’t drop the thing. No more. Am waiting for my insurance to give me the OK on acupuncture treatment.
Getting back on the bloody horse
Had a bit of trauma at the blood bank yesterday. First, there was some concern that my iron count was too low, but they tested my blood and pronounced me good to go. During those five minutes, I decided I wasn’t even going to try to donate any more. Saved lives be damned, I don’tContinue reading “Getting back on the bloody horse”
Itchy typing finger
Yesterday’s bee sting was a bizarre little event. I was walking Isis and swinging my arm with abandon when I felt the sting and looked down to see the little bugger on my hand. It took some shaking, and some squealing, to get it off. Stung quite a bit, but by the end of theContinue reading “Itchy typing finger”
Sedating Isis
I took Isis to the vet last week to get a heart worm preventative pill, cus they have heart worm in Calif., but not here. She had some patches of dry skin on her legs, so I used that opportunity to ask the vet about them. He was very concerned and certain it was mange.Continue reading “Sedating Isis”
