So I was watching a Top Model Marathon yesterday while painting my kitchen. Watched more commercials than I probably did in the whole of 2007, because I was actually watching live TV. Lots of commercials for ab-toning workouts. Specifically. Like the advertising folks figure everyone in the world will be feeling fat and looking forContinue reading “Happy New Year and all that”

Changing tactics
If anyone’s wondering, my last effort at Weight Watching was a miserable failure. I weighed the same this morning as I did when I decided to go back. I don’t know why I can’t do it this time, unless it has something to do with living with a dude (so not only have I stoppedContinue reading “Changing tactics”
Guilt ridden
Yesterday, I suited up in matching sky blue rain paints and raincoat to walk Isis. It was blustery and raining, you see. You’da thought she’d never been outside the house before, she was so enchanted by all that she saw (and smelled, no doubt). I don’t think she walked beside me for two steps theContinue reading “Guilt ridden”
Weight for it…
I lost 1.2 pounds since last week’s weigh-in. Which sort of surprised me, because my scale at home wasn’t showing much of a difference. I’m pleased. I think I’ve been pretty good about following the plan, since Sunday anyway. (Friday and Saturday were potlucks, and there’s no controlling the food there.) I’m still working outContinue reading “Weight for it…”
Wait watchers
So I’ve gained 5 pounds since moving in with Rob. Which isn’t that much, but after about a year of planning to lose a few, and somehow gaining a couple instead, I decided that I needed reinforcements to boost my motivation. Enter Isis and our morning walks and a return to Weight Watchers! I’m justContinue reading “Wait watchers”
Strategy
A few weeks ago, I tried taking Isis for a walk before class, to help get her focused, since running her around in the yard only revved her up. I thought to myself, as I had every time I watched the Dog Whisperer, “I should really wake up earlier and take her for a walkContinue reading “Strategy”
Cotton Kills
A couple of jobs ago, I met some coworkers in the office parking lot on a Saturday morning for a hike at Mount St. Helens. It was summertime, so I wore a pair of camouflage shorts (in protest of the war, and cus they make me look like Avril Lavigne) and a white T-shirt. SomeContinue reading “Cotton Kills”
Spar
I don’t like to spar. Something about punches and kicks coming my way when I do not have a specific plan to deal with them makes me uneasy. I enjoy combinations and drills. You hold pads while I kick and punch. We both wear gloves and you punch me in this choreographed fashion and IContinue reading “Spar”

Isis and I were a little rusty at dog class last night. She was distracted, and let’s be honest, I’ve never corrected her as harshly as I’m supposed to. So she can’t walk perfectly on a leash, but she’s pretty good at stay…as long as she’s on a leash. At home, it’s a whole ‘notherContinue reading “Fitness”
Smiley
We took Isis to a “free” agility class this weekend. I didn’t care for it. The teacher was very keen on using treats as a lure, which is all well and good if you have a stupid dog who’d follow a treat off a cliff. Our dog is much too clever for such bribery. SheContinue reading “Smiley”
