I have a terrible headache and not much to do today, so you’d think I’d have a full-on case of the Mondays. But Monday’s got something going for it that Tues-Thur don’t have. Or rather, Monday doesn’t have something that Tue-Thur do have…and that’s a martial arts class. So on Mondays, when I start countingContinue reading “Why Mondays don’t suck”

I’ve never been known for my taste
Of the last three movies I saw, none of them were good. But for some reason, the least likely candidate was my favorite. You’d think I’d have more positive things to saw about my childhood friends, Transformers, or that the very explosiveness or Bruce Willisness of Die Harderer would have carried it along. But no,Continue reading “I’ve never been known for my taste”
Songs of the Summer
I’m not exactly on the cutting edge when it comes to music. Or technology. I’m just now putting songs on my very first iPod, a hand-me-down from Rob, who got it at a pawn shop and then replaced it with a snazzier one. Mine’s approximately the size of an 80s boom box and holds asContinue reading “Songs of the Summer”
America’s troubles
Wanna know why young people care more about Nicole Richie’s DUI than the war in Iraq? I mean, not that I’m a young person anymore, I’m in my 30s! …But George W. pre-empted the Today Show this morning and I can’t stand to hear him talk, OK? So I was forced to change the channel,Continue reading “America’s troubles”
Cue violins
It’s the one week a year when we need air conditioning. At least my office has it… The temperature hit 94 degrees just before 1 p.m. today, tying the all-time record. The record was set originally on Aug. 9, 1960, and matched on Aug. 8, 1978. Today’s temperature blew past the previous record for JulyContinue reading “Cue violins”
Wasted day
There’s nothing more suspicious than calling in sick the day after vacation, so I waited until Tuesday to do it. I was supposed to go fishing (for work), but when my alarm went off at 6, I felt awful. The headache that hit just before bed was still there and my tummy kinda hurt too.Continue reading “Wasted day”
More photos (of my dog)
Great-aunt Chancey shows Isis how to swim. Rob greets Isis with a yawn.
Day 3
For some reason, we didn’t take any pictures of our sophomore effort at skydiving, but we survived. We did it in Monterey, where the ocean view was lovely, but the experience wasn’t as wonderful as the first time. We jumped from 18,000 feet (with dudes strapped to our backs) versus 10,000 feet the first time.Continue reading “Day 3”
Visual highlights
This is the cabin we slept in our first night. On day 2, Isis was a little seasick, or road sick, and vomited a few times in the parking lot at Prehistoric Gardens, in Oregon. But she felt better by the time we took a break in the redwood forest of California. Here I amContinue reading “Visual highlights”
Home again
We decided to drive all the way home last night, making the trip back from So. Cal in two days, sted of three. Got home at about 10:45 and had things sufficiently put away and laundry started by midnight. (which would be a bigger deal if I hadn’t just done laundry on Thursday night atContinue reading “Home again”
