I really do love my job. Or else I’m a complete geek, and that’s why I find myself tweaking a PageMaker file at 8 p.m. on a Saturday. Yeah, I said PageMaker. We spent two days learning the finer points of InDesign, but we’re doing one more issue in PageMaker, because my codesigner hasn’t gottenContinue reading “Job satisfaction”

My hair smells like smoke again
In a good way. Not from second-hand cigarette smoke, but from sitting around a fire in a longhouse for several hours today, at a ceremony where I at once felt very welcomed and very much like an outsider. Wish Rob had gone with me, although he probably would have been itching to leave by theContinue reading “My hair smells like smoke again”
Motel living
I may be onto something here. I found it very easy, two days in a row, to wake up when the alarm went off at 7, get dressed and arrive early to an 8:30 training. At home, it’s nearly impossible to get out of bed on the first try. Even after I’ve gotten up, takenContinue reading “Motel living”
Over the hump
I can’t even believe it. I made it back to the office with time to spare before the meeting. I totally fried my brain at the computer training though. Since I planned to miss the last “unit” in order to beat traffic (yay me!), after lunch I worked ahead in the chapter the instructor wasContinue reading “Over the hump”
Zen in the workplace
As usual, my mother has the answer to all my problems. (i.e. No. 1) Drive down to the training tonight and stay in a motel. After tomorrow night’s meeting, drive back down to motel. This allows me to sleep til a normal time in the mornings, and not fight the hellish morning traffic. Here’s somethingContinue reading “Zen in the workplace”
Rhymes with Duress
I had this very unfamiliar feeling this morning, like I have so much to do that I don’t know where to start and I might not get it done. I think it’s called stress. Problem No. 1I have a training 2 hours away (without traffic) until 4:30 Wednesday, followed by a meeting here that startsContinue reading “Rhymes with Duress”
Living is easy
It’s cold and dreary out, but it feels like summertime to me, because I’m working from home and drinking a cool glass of Newman’s Own Limeade. I had a coupon. Aaahh.
System upgrade
ohmahgawsh, I just installed Adobe Creative Suite 2. And discovered that it converts PageMaker files! I’m a designer!
Where’s my rubber cement?
So I’m stenciling letters onto some foamboard, for a little display I’m making for work. I’ve blown up some photos and gluesticked them to the board–they look great at least. So anyway, I’m stenciling away, and the “a” is a little far away from the “l” in the first word, but whatever, it looks prettyContinue reading “Where’s my rubber cement?”
Telephone etiquette
Note to self: After listening in on conference call with headset on mute, remember to unpress the mute button before answering the phone later.
