My name is Kari, which rhymes with safari. Hence the name.
Rhymes with Safari is, at its heart, a dog blog starring three German shepherds.
From 2006 to 2011, I chronicled the life of Isis, who was beautiful, smart, and reactive. Her story is the subject of my memoir, Bark and Lunge.
More recently, I have been telling the stories of Leo, who is an extremely loyal rascal, and Mia, who won us over with her mellow yet crafty personality when we rescued her in 2011.
When I’m not regaling the internet with stories of my dogs, I write book and movie reviews and other pop culture commentary.
Things I’m into include: superheroes, travel, and martial arts; dance, fashion, and model competition shows; and TV shows about vampires, serial killers, CIA agents, and meth cooks.
Another subject that crops up from time to time on Rhymes with Safari is my struggle with TMJ. Off-topic, perhaps, but in nearly ten years, I’ve yet to find a cure, despite trying everything I’ve heard of, including Western, holistic, and traditional Chinese medicine. My hope is that putting my experience out there might be helpful to other people suffering from debilitating jaw pain.
